Episode III debuts on May 19th and fans are betting on the duel beetween Obi Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader.

Will the new Star Wars movie break every box office record as the previous episodes did? Will it be the most succesful film in history in its opening weekend? How many weeks will “Revenge Of The Sith” (a.k.a. ROTS) be number one?

Star Wars fans are even taking bets on how many weeks will the theme song single top the music charts.

The saga’s commercial empire began with an opening screening on May 25, 1977.

28 years ago we learned about a galaxy far far away in which, a long time ago, a young Jedi, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), along with Master Jedi Obi Wan Kenobi (Alec Guiness), took command of a rebel army in order to defeat the evil Sith Knight, Darth Vader(David Prowse).

George Lucas’ classic movie, which was followed by two sequels, became known as Episode IV, when its producers announced the release of a prequel to the story (that is a whole new trilogy ambiented in the same universe, but in a previous period).

The Star Wars Trilogy is both commercial and cult cinema, it established a new paradigm in science fiction storytelling. A perfect epic story in which the astonished fans witnessed the villain revealing himself as the heroe’s father, and finding redemption in the last film.

In the prequel movies, we saw Ewan McGregor playing the young Obi Wan Kenobi, and got acquainted with the fearsome Darth Vader, when he was still known as Anakin Skywalker and he hadn’t embraced yet the Dark Side of the Force.

Next May 19th the Saga’s circle will be completed, when Skywalker follows the path of the Sith, under Emperor Palpatine’s guidance, and confront his own Jedi mentor Ben Kenobi in a final battle.... which will bring us back to the beginning of everything.
