Grand Theft Auto - Maker Patches Against Unsanctioned Sex

What some users have called the world's "least-downloaded patch ever" was released by Rockstar Games, maker of the under-fire "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" video game.

The patch, which is for the Windows version of the popular game, "prevents and removes the 'Hot Coffee' modification," said Rockstar in a statement on its Web site.

Grand Theft Auto stirred up a firestorm of criticism in July when the so-called "Hot Coffee" modification, or "mod," was published by an independent programmer and widely distributed on the Internet. The mod unlocked graphic sex scenes present in the game, but disabled by Rockstar.

Spiderman, the X-men and Hulk, future Microsoft "employees"

For the comic book fans, almost nothing is more interesting than becoming one of the characters they admire so much, even if this happens only in the virtual world of video games. And as Microsoft knows this only very well, the company has signed and agreement with Marvel Enterprises Inc., the trademark owner for characters such as Spiderman, the X-men and the Hulk, according to which the company from Redmond has the exclusive rights to publish multiplayer online games featuring these superheroes.

Universal Studios' park at Universal Orlando was ranked sixth, and sister park Islands of Adventure came in seventh. Disney's California Adventures followed in eighth place, with SeaWorld Orlando ninth and Universal's California park 10th.

Sex, Games and Politics

Games rated "Mature," like "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," are widely available to anyone age 17 and older. If the pornography claim proves true, availability of the game would suffer. The PlayStation 2 version was last year's top video game, according to NPD Funworld, a game industry analyst.

One of the nation's most popular video games is under scrutiny following claims that it harbors hidden pornography.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board, an industry group, has launched an investigation into whether "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" contains explicit sex acts made viewable only by downloading a modification program.
